The City of London Corporation delivers apprenticeships and adult learning through its Adult Skills and Education Service within the Department of Community and Children’s Services. Its Apprenticeship Programme combines paid employment with structured training, offering intermediate and advanced-level apprenticeships and some higher-level courses in partnership with employers across the Square Mile and beyond. Apprenticeships span a broad range of sectors and standards, including accountancy, animal care, business administration, butchery, civil engineering, customer service, digital marketing, event management, horticulture, human resources, transport planning and more, with classroom-based learning supported by workplace assessment. The Corporation provides a free apprenticeship placement service for employers, covering vacancy advertising, candidate screening, training (free for 16–18 and subsidised for many 19–24 year olds), performance assessment and certification, and can tailor provision around employer requirements. Apprenticeships are available both to new entrants and existing staff as a route to develop skills in areas such as leadership, management, project management, and professional roles like solicitor and accounting.
