The University of Winchester delivers a growing portfolio of higher and degree apprenticeships that combine paid employment with university-level study. Through its Centre for Degree Apprenticeships, the university works in close partnership with employers to design programmes that align academic learning with current industry needs, offering tailored pathways for both new recruits and existing staff who want to upskill or retrain. Current apprenticeship provision includes health and social care routes such as Registered Nurse Degree Apprenticeships (across Adult, Child, Learning Disabilities and Mental Health), Nursing Associate, Midwifery, Social Work and Advanced Clinical Practice, with additional programmes such as Occupational Therapy in development. Apprentices typically attend university one day per week, with fees funded via employers and/or the Apprenticeship Levy, while benefiting from full student access to campus facilities, student services and the Students’ Union. The university also offers a broader range of foundation, undergraduate, postgraduate and short course programmes, enabling employers to access flexible workforce development options alongside apprenticeships.
