About
PA Media Academy
Become a Journalist is a specialist journalism training brand delivered by PA Media Academy, part of PA Media Group, the UK and Ireland’s national news agency. Its programmes focus on the industry‑recognised NCTJ Diploma in Journalism, designed to make trainees newsroom‑ready through highly practical, skills‑based training. Learners can complete the qualification via an intensive 18–19 week fast‑track course at PA’s London headquarters or through a structured part‑time route that allows them to work while they train, with both options offering the opportunity to specialise in areas such as news, sport or digital features and longform journalism. Training is delivered by current or former senior journalists from leading UK newsrooms, with a strong emphasis on essential reporting skills, ethics, media law and court reporting, and multimedia storytelling. The provider has been developing journalists since 1969 through PA Training, and also works with employers who wish to invest in their teams’ journalism skills, offering courses that help staff build strong writing, reporting and digital capabilities aligned to newsroom standards.

Each standard lists the skills required of apprentices, and every standard is written by a group of employers called trailblazers-experts within their industry that have worked with countless apprentices.
