About
The Forward Trust
The Forward Trust is a social justice charity that delivers specialist support to people affected by addiction, offending and related disadvantage across England and Wales. The organisation provides substance use, mental health, criminal justice and employment services in more than 80 prisons and community settings, helping individuals move on with family, work, housing and a sense of belonging. Its offer includes structured drug and alcohol treatment, recovery and peer support, housing and resettlement, and services for people on probation, alongside employment support to help clients get back into work. Forward also runs residential services and family and specialist programmes, and offers online help through its Reach Out confidential chat service for adults with concerns about drugs, alcohol, mental health, housing or employment. In addition to direct services, The Forward Trust campaigns to change public attitudes and policy around addiction, recovery and second chances, aiming to reduce stigma so that more people feel able to seek help. Since 1991, it has supported thousands of people each year to achieve transformational, long‑term recovery and more positive, productive futures.(forwardtrust.org.uk)

Each standard lists the skills required of apprentices, and every standard is written by a group of employers called trailblazers-experts within their industry that have worked with countless apprentices.
