Teach First

About
Teach First
Teach First is a UK charity and accredited training provider focused on developing teachers and school leaders, particularly in schools serving disadvantaged communities. It offers a two‑year, fully funded Training Programme that enables participants to gain Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) and a PGCE while working in partner schools, alongside structured mentoring and leadership development. For candidates who want to train locally, Teach First delivers School‑Centred Initial Teacher Training (SCITT) and a Postgraduate Teaching Apprenticeship (PGTA), both designed to provide classroom‑based routes into teaching with expert support and, for the apprenticeship, no tuition fees. The organisation also provides a Training Programme Nomination route, enabling schools to upskill existing support staff into qualified teachers while they remain employed in their current setting. Beyond initial teacher training, Teach First runs a range of continuing professional development offers for schools, including Ofsted‑rated outstanding Early Career Training Programme (ECTP) for early career teachers and their mentors, National Professional Qualifications (NPQs) for specialist and leadership roles, a Coaching Programme, Leading Together for senior leadership teams, and other tailored school partnership programmes. Delivery combines online learning, seminars and in‑person conferences, often via regional delivery partners, with flexible, evidence‑informed content aimed at improving teaching quality and pupil outcomes across England.
Apprenticeships Offered:
Apprenticeship standards detail what an apprentice will be doing in their day-to-day job role.
Each standard lists the skills required of apprentices, and every standard is written by a group of employers called trailblazers-experts within their industry that have worked with countless apprentices.
Listed here are the apprenticeship standards this training provider offers training for.
