Delivery Modes

Surrey County Council, through Surrey Adult Learning (SAL), delivers apprenticeship training designed to meet the needs of both employers and learners in and around Surrey. SAL offers apprenticeship standards primarily across business-focused and education/social care roles, including Customer Service Practitioner (Level 2), Customer Service Specialist (Level 3), Business Administrator (Level 3), Team Leader (Level 3), Operations Manager (Level 5), Coaching Professional (Level 5), Teaching Assistant (Level 3), Practitioner in Children’s Residential Care (Level 4) and Manager in Children’s Residential Care (Level 5). Programmes are typically 12–24 months in duration, combining workplace learning with off‑the‑job training. Delivery blends face‑to‑face and remote sessions in small groups or one‑to‑one, supported by qualified trainer/assessors who monitor progress, conduct regular reviews and guide learners towards end‑point assessment. Apprentices may also complete functional skills in English and maths where required. Apprenticeships are accredited through the Institute for Apprenticeships and Technical Education, with support from awarding bodies such as City & Guilds, NCFE and ILM, leading to nationally recognised qualifications or apprenticeship standards. Surrey Adult Learning has been graded ‘Good’ by Ofsted (May 2022), and the council actively supports employers with apprenticeship recruitment and the upskilling of existing staff aged 16 and over via tailored training plans and advice on apprenticeship funding and levy transfer schemes.
