About
School of Dental Care Professionals
The School of Dental Care Professionals, part of Leeds Dental Institute within Leeds Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust, is a specialist centre for dental education offering both apprenticeships and wider professional training. The school delivers apprenticeships in dental nursing and dental technology and has been recognised by Ofsted as an Outstanding provider for its apprenticeship programmes following an inspection in 2022. Its provision has expanded significantly since 2020 and was restructured in 2022 to encompass a broader range of oral healthcare professionals, enabling it to support more of the dental workforce. Courses currently offered include the City & Guilds Extended Diploma in Dental Nursing, BTEC Extended Diploma in Dental Technology, the Level 4 Oral Health Practitioner apprenticeship, and a range of specialist programmes such as Minor Oral Surgery Dental Nurse, Orthodontic and Sedation Nursing, Paediatric Dental Nursing, Gerodontology, and Oral Health Champion training. Programmes are designed and delivered by an experienced team of educators using varied teaching methods to build the knowledge, skills and behaviours required for modern dental care roles. The school also publishes apprenticeship main provider policies and procedures covering areas such as safeguarding, equality and diversity, and health and safety, supporting employers and learners with a structured, compliant training environment.
Apprenticeships Offered:
Apprenticeship standards detail what an apprentice will be doing in their day-to-day job role.
Each standard lists the skills required of apprentices, and every standard is written by a group of employers called trailblazers-experts within their industry that have worked with countless apprentices.
Listed here are the apprenticeship standards this training provider offers training for.
