Middlesbrough Community Learning

Middlesbrough Community Learning is Middlesbrough Council’s apprenticeship, adult learning and employability service. Through its community learning provision, it delivers a wide range of apprenticeship programmes from Level 2 (equivalent to five GCSEs) up to Level 7 in some areas, enabling progression from entry-level roles to higher-level professional development. Current apprenticeships delivered include Customer Service Practitioner, Business Administrator, Operational Delivery Officer, Teaching Assistant, Team Leader/Supervisor and Operations/Departmental Manager, with recruitment focused both within Middlesbrough Council and across a network of local employers in the Tees Valley. Apprenticeships are advertised via the National Apprenticeship Service and the provider’s own website, and combine paid employment with structured training leading to recognised qualifications. Alongside apprenticeships, Middlesbrough Community Learning offers wider skills and qualification-based training, such as digital skills, Functional Skills English and maths, ESOL, and sector-focused courses in areas like catering, hospitality, cleaning, and health and social care. The service supports employers with apprenticeship funding advice, recruitment campaigns and workforce upskilling, and provides adults with access to internships, work experience, and volunteering opportunities to improve employability and career progression. It operates from bases in Middlesbrough including the Multi-Media Exchange on Corporation Road and the Lingfield Learning Centre.
