The Engineering College

About
The Engineering College
The Engineering College is a specialist engineering training provider based in Birkenhead, serving industrial Merseyside and the wider North West. Established in 1998 in partnership with Cammell Laird Shipyard to address skills shortages in engineering, construction and manufacturing, the college now trains over 100 apprentices each year and has trained more than 4,000 engineers through its apprenticeship programmes, industry courses and end-point assessment services. Its apprenticeship offer includes Engineering Technician Apprenticeship schemes accredited by IMechE, higher apprenticeships and defined learning pathways that support progression into employment. The college manages recruitment, onboarding and training on behalf of employers, positioning itself as a linchpin between engineering businesses and new talent, and aims to deliver 1,000 engineers to industry by 2030. In addition to apprenticeships, The Engineering College delivers commercial short courses, technical testing and other industry-focused training, with success rates reported as well above national averages. It is Ofqual-approved as an End-Point Assessment Organisation, providing independent EPA services that assess apprentices’ knowledge, skills and behaviours against industry-recognised standards. Training is delivered in approximately 7,000 sqm of state-of-the-art facilities, and the site is also available for event and venue hire, giving employers additional options for hosting training or other activities on a specialist engineering campus.
Apprenticeships Offered:
Apprenticeship standards detail what an apprentice will be doing in their day-to-day job role.
Each standard lists the skills required of apprentices, and every standard is written by a group of employers called trailblazers-experts within their industry that have worked with countless apprentices.
Listed here are the apprenticeship standards this training provider offers training for.
