Delivery Modes

Liverpool John Moores University (LJMU) delivers a growing portfolio of degree apprenticeships that combine paid employment with part‑time higher education study. LJMU has been delivering degree apprenticeships since 2016 and reports more than 1,200 apprentices across sectors including policing, healthcare, civil engineering, chartered surveying and business management. Apprentices typically spend around 80% of their time in the workplace and 20% studying at the university, following part‑time routes that lead to full undergraduate or postgraduate qualifications. Current apprenticeship courses include programmes in building services engineering, chartered management, chartered surveying, senior leadership, registered nursing, social work, police constable roles, psychological wellbeing practice, senior people professional pathways, digital and technology solutions, serious and complex crime investigation, applied management (policing), counter fraud investigation and intelligence analysis. LJMU works in partnership with employers to align programmes with apprenticeship standards and professional bodies, and tuition fees are funded via employers using government apprenticeship funding. Apprentices must be in qualifying employment, meet standard LJMU entry requirements and are supported by dedicated apprenticeship teams in relevant schools, such as the School of Nursing and Advanced Practice. Alongside apprenticeships, LJMU offers a broad range of undergraduate, postgraduate and continuing professional development opportunities for workforce upskilling and talent development.
