About
League Football Education
League Football Education (LFE) was established by the EFL and the PFA in 2004 to deliver a structured two‑year apprenticeship programme for 16–18‑year‑old players at English Football League (EFL) clubs. Its provision combines full‑time football development with recognised education, including BTEC qualifications and English and maths Functional Skills, supported by initial assessment, induction and regular one‑to‑one progress reviews from regional officers. LFE also delivers an extensive Life Skills programme for players from under‑9 to under‑21, as well as parents and club staff, covering areas such as emotional wellbeing, equality, diversity and inclusion, finance, cardiac and sexual health, social media, resilience, gambling, alcohol and drugs. Beyond the core apprenticeship, LFE tracks and supports former apprentices through assessment trials for out‑of‑contract players, help with USA soccer scholarships or university places, and links with clubs and pathways worldwide. Through these programmes, LFE supports the holistic development, welfare and transition of young players while helping clubs provide a consistent, high‑quality education and personal development offer alongside their football programmes.
Apprenticeships Offered:
Apprenticeship standards detail what an apprentice will be doing in their day-to-day job role.
Each standard lists the skills required of apprentices, and every standard is written by a group of employers called trailblazers-experts within their industry that have worked with countless apprentices.
Listed here are the apprenticeship standards this training provider offers training for.
