The Isle of Wight College is a further and higher education college established in 1951 that provides a broad range of training options for individuals and employers. Its apprenticeship provision spans intermediate, advanced and higher levels across sectors such as construction, engineering, automotive, business administration, customer service, hospitality and catering, hair and beauty, health and social care, early years, digital and IT, HR, management, motor vehicle, plumbing, property maintenance, retail, supply chain warehousing, teaching assistant and team leading. Apprentices combine paid employment with on- and off-the-job training, with no tuition fees for the apprentice, and can study with an existing employer or via advertised apprenticeship vacancies. The college emphasises working with employers and supporting the local community, offering industry placements, employer training and services, and a dedicated information area for apprenticeship employers. Beyond apprenticeships, the College delivers vocational courses, Access to Higher Education, T Levels, GCSEs, adult skills provision, higher education through its University Centre, international student programmes, and school links courses for 14–16 year olds. Significant investment in facilities includes a £11m Centre of Excellence for Composites, Advanced Manufacturing and Marine (CECAMM), a purpose-built Pathways centre for learners with difficulties or disabilities, a Learning Resource Centre, gym and specialist training environments, all aimed at supporting progression and workforce development across the Island and beyond.
