Essex & Thames SCITT is a school-centred initial teacher training provider and registered charity focused on preparing Early Years and Primary teachers across Essex, Southend and Thurrock. Its programmes combine 120 days in school with 70 days of structured training, enabling trainees to blend theory and practice while working in a network of over 100 nurseries, primary and special schools. The provider offers initial teacher training routes, including PGCE delivered in partnership with Anglia Ruskin University, and assessment-only pathways leading to Qualified Teacher Status. Training is designed for both new graduates and career changers, with flexible in‑person and online study options and strong pastoral and academic support throughout. Essex & Thames SCITT emphasises inclusive classroom practice, with dedicated time for trainees to examine equality, diversity, unconscious bias and reducing barriers to learning and participation for all pupils. As a charity trading as Essex & Thames SCITT, Essex & Thames Education aims to advance education by providing digital and face‑to‑face training programmes for aspiring educators, helping schools develop high‑quality teachers who make a sustained, positive impact on children’s lives.
