About
Derby City Council
Derby City Council offers apprenticeship opportunities within the council and supports local employers to use apprenticeships to recruit and upskill staff. Apprenticeships with Derby City Council typically last a minimum of 12 months, with some lasting longer, and are available at Levels 2 and 3 in areas such as business administration, customer service, accounting, IT and teaching assistant roles, along with other positions depending on vacancies. Apprentices are employed in real jobs across council services while working toward recognised qualifications, with at least 20% of their time spent in off‑the‑job training delivered by an external training provider in a training centre and in the workplace. The council’s Employment and Skills/Derby Jobs team also advises local businesses on using apprenticeships and other training to grow their own talent, connecting them with training providers and helping them understand apprenticeship funding, including levy transfer. Through events, recruitment support and information for sectors such as childcare and engineering, Derby City Council promotes apprenticeships as a route for both new entrants and existing employees to gain formal qualifications, build employability skills and progress in their careers.
Apprenticeships Offered:
Apprenticeship standards detail what an apprentice will be doing in their day-to-day job role.
Each standard lists the skills required of apprentices, and every standard is written by a group of employers called trailblazers-experts within their industry that have worked with countless apprentices.
Listed here are the apprenticeship standards this training provider offers training for.
