About
Buckinghamshire County Council
Buckinghamshire Council is a local authority that actively uses apprenticeships to develop skills across its workforce and support local employers and schools. Through its Apprenticeship Levy, the council funds the training element of apprenticeships for maintained schools, enabling roles such as trainee teachers, caretakers, business managers, lab technicians, teaching assistants, finance officers, office and IT support staff, receptionists, headteachers and nursery staff to access structured, work‑based learning linked directly to job roles. Apprenticeships are offered at different levels, making them suitable both for new entrants at the start of their careers and existing staff seeking to upskill or gain nationally recognised qualifications. The council emphasises apprenticeships as a viable alternative to higher education and a way for schools to attract and retain staff, improve morale and increase transferable skills. There is no upper age limit for apprentices, and existing staff can undertake an apprenticeship where it is relevant to their role. Buckinghamshire Council provides HR support to set up apprenticeships and draw down levy funds, as well as wider early‑career development opportunities, including dedicated support networks and additional training and development for entry‑level apprentices.
Apprenticeships Offered:
Apprenticeship standards detail what an apprentice will be doing in their day-to-day job role.
Each standard lists the skills required of apprentices, and every standard is written by a group of employers called trailblazers-experts within their industry that have worked with countless apprentices.
Listed here are the apprenticeship standards this training provider offers training for.
