Skills & Learning Adult Community Education

About
Skills & Learning Adult Community Education
Skills & Learning Adult Community Education is the joint adult education service for Dorset and Bournemouth, Christchurch and Poole (BCP) Councils, offering a wide range of programmes to support personal and professional development. Their provision includes vocational training, GCSEs and other accredited qualifications, alongside courses in digital skills, languages, creative arts, wellbeing, and family learning, delivered both online and in community-based centres across the county. The service focuses on adults at different starting points, from those seeking skills for work or career progression to those looking to build confidence, support their children’s learning or engage more in their community. As a not‑for‑profit, community-focused provider, they aim to make learning accessible through small classes, financial support and concessionary fees, with no hidden course costs. All tutors are fully qualified and experienced, and learners are supported by dedicated Learning Support Officers and a Learner Experience team. Skills & Learning ACE also responds to local employer needs by providing training that helps individuals gain skills and qualifications relevant to the local labour market, contributing to stronger, more skilled and prosperous communities.

Apprenticeship standards detail what an apprentice will be doing in their day-to-day job role.
Each standard lists the skills required of apprentices, and every standard is written by a group of employers called trailblazers-experts within their industry that have worked with countless apprentices.
