Babcock International provides large-scale technical training services that support defence, security and emergency-service operations. Through its Training division, the organisation delivers programmes for naval, air, land, nuclear and emergency services personnel, supporting roles such as submariners, pilots, engineers, army personnel, vehicle drivers, operators, maintainers, officers and firefighters in highly regulated environments over long-term contracts. Its offer includes managed training solutions such as the UK Military Flying Training System, specialist training for the London Fire Brigade, Metropolitan Police Service and Royal School of Military Engineering, and programmes like the Jet Pilots Modernised Training Programme and Electro Mechanical Training Contract. Babcock states that training personnel is critical to the success of new defence equipment and asset modernisation programmes, and it provides a range of training products and service solutions to ensure customers’ people are ready for their missions. The company also manages all aspects of the land training cycle for the British Army, delivering over 758,000 training days annually and overseeing more than 5,000 apprenticeships each year for units including the Royal Electrical and Mechanical Engineers, Royal Armoured Corps, Armoured Infantry, Army Air Corps and others. Its funded apprenticeship provision involves partnerships with UK universities and previously with devolved-nation apprenticeship schemes.
