Askham Bryan College

About
Askham Bryan College
Askham Bryan College is a specialist land-based college offering apprenticeship training and wider skills development across the land-based and agricultural sectors. Its apprenticeships blend classroom-based learning at the York campus (with veterinary nursing also delivered at Gateshead) with on-the-job training, leading to nationally recognised qualifications at Levels 2–5 and, in some routes, higher levels. Programmes are available to learners aged 16 and above, including mature students, and typically run for around two years, with external end-point assessment and structured support from a course manager. Apprenticeships are offered in agriculture, arboriculture and forestry, engineering (including land-based engineering technologies such as GPS, robotics and autonomous vehicles), equine, horticulture and veterinary nursing. Askham Bryan positions its apprenticeship provision within a broader offer of full-time further education, higher education degrees through University Centre Askham Bryan, and short courses and skills training for adults and employers. The college emphasises work-ready learning and maintains established links with local and regional employers to support recruitment, workplace training and progression into skilled employment.
Apprenticeships Offered:
Apprenticeship standards detail what an apprentice will be doing in their day-to-day job role.
Each standard lists the skills required of apprentices, and every standard is written by a group of employers called trailblazers-experts within their industry that have worked with countless apprentices.
Listed here are the apprenticeship standards this training provider offers training for.
