Matrix Academy Trust

Matrix Academy Trust is a multi-academy trust focused on providing exceptional education across a group of schools in the Midlands. Its stated vision is that every child deserves an exceptional education, delivered through high expectations for behaviour, strong pastoral support with wellbeing at the centre, and an evidence-informed approach to curriculum design. The Trust has grown from the transformation of Barr Beacon School and now supports multiple schools, including some that were previously among the lowest performing nationally, turning them into sustainably improved, Ofsted-rated ‘Good’ providers. Matrix places strong emphasis on social mobility and operates a Careers Hub at its flagship school for the whole of the Black Country, helping pupils progress to university and higher apprenticeships through personalised careers guidance and employability support. The Trust’s School Improvement Team provides diagnostic and follow-up support to other trusts and has contributed to national Department for Education workload and school improvement initiatives. Matrix also offers extensive professional development and talent development for staff, including initial teacher training through a School Centred Initial Teacher Training (SCITT) route and NPQ delivery via Manor Teaching School Hub, supporting the wider education workforce as well as its own schools.
