About
NPL Training
NPL Training is the training arm of the National Physical Laboratory (NPL), the UK’s National Metrology Institute, and specialises in developing measurement and metrology capability for science, engineering and industry. It delivers a Level 3 Metrology Technician Apprenticeship that supports the Institute for Apprenticeships & Technical Education’s Metrology Technician Standard, providing a route into skilled employment for technicians involved in measurement research, calibration, testing, inspection, quality and process support across sectors including manufacturing. This apprenticeship is delivered on-site at NPL and via approved delivery network trainers, with NPL Training approved by the Education and Skills Funding Agency to deliver apprenticeship training to employers based in England. Alongside apprenticeships, NPL Training offers a broad portfolio of metrology-focused learning, from self-paced e-learning and online modules to classroom-based courses, hands-on practicals with NPL experts, and structured learning pathways for industry, academia and government. Courses cover the importance of metrology, advances in measurement science and engineering, and best measurement practice across a wide range of disciplines, with many programmes developed in collaboration with academic, industrial and government specialists. Training is designed to address national and international skills gaps and to enable learners to improve measurement practice, productivity and profitability in their organisations.
Apprenticeships Offered:
Apprenticeship standards detail what an apprentice will be doing in their day-to-day job role.
Each standard lists the skills required of apprentices, and every standard is written by a group of employers called trailblazers-experts within their industry that have worked with countless apprentices.
Listed here are the apprenticeship standards this training provider offers training for.
