Clarkson Evans

Clarkson Evans is a large UK electrical and solar subcontractor that also operates as an in-house apprenticeship training provider. The company has been delivering apprenticeship training since 1998 and runs one of the most successful electrical apprenticeship programmes in the country, recognised as a Top 100 Apprentice Employer by the Department for Education. Their core business is electrical contracting and solar PV installation for new-build housing, wiring over 24,000 homes a year from 21 branches nationwide. All apprenticeship training is delivered in partnership with employers, who must provide appropriate work experience, while Clarkson Evans delivers structured off-the-job training through its own training centres and remote learning. Apprentices are directly employed and trained by Clarkson Evans, following an Advanced Electrotechnical Apprenticeship that combines on-site practical learning with theory delivered by in-house lecturers. In addition to apprenticeships, they provide a range of other electrical courses, supported by purpose-built training facilities and policies covering safeguarding, complaints and learner support. The company emphasises long-term career progression, with around 70% of managers in technical roles having started as apprentices, and offers structured pathways into team leader, management, and training roles, aiming to prepare learners for sustained careers in the new-build electrical and renewables sector.
