British Racing School
The British Racing School (BRS) is a purpose-built training centre on the outskirts of Newmarket, the headquarters of British horseracing. It provides world-class training and education for the horse racing industry, with extensive grounds and state-of-the-art equipment designed to support high-quality learning. Facilities include a two-and-a-half furlong all-weather Activ-Track round gallop, a seven-furlong Activ-Track straight gallop to train over race distances in all weathers, and an indoor school with a specialist riding surface and viewing gallery. BRS combines practical riding and yard work with classroom-based learning, supported by designated classrooms and a fully equipped ICT room used for delivering English and maths functional skills and online exams. Learners benefit from advanced training technology, including an MK9 Racewood Simulator, three MK1 simulators, and Dartfish analysis software for detailed performance review. Onsite gym facilities and balance training equipment support fitness and rider conditioning. Alongside its core industry training, BRS offers first-class conference facilities with rooms for up to 80 delegates, available through a dedicated conferences service.

Each standard lists the skills required of apprentices, and every standard is written by a group of employers called trailblazers-experts within their industry that have worked with countless apprentices.
