North Humberside Motor Trades Group Training Association (Motor Trades GTA) is a non-profit, employer-led training organisation specialising in motor vehicle apprenticeships and industry training. Formed in 1972 by employers in the retail motor industry, it operates as a registered charity, with the objective of providing and assisting in training for people employed or intending to be employed in road transport activities. The GTA delivers motor vehicle apprenticeships for light and heavy vehicles and offers a range of hands-on qualifications that combine practical skills with underpinning knowledge. Training is delivered in its own in-house training centre, opened in partnership with Hull Training, and uses current equipment and technology, including MOT testing facilities. The organisation works closely with a network of member and associate companies, supporting them with recruitment, selection, and training of apprentices. In addition to apprenticeships, Motor Trades GTA provides high-demand professional courses such as MOT New Tester, MOT Centre Manager, Light Vehicle Inspection, F-Gas, Hybrid, and other specialist programmes for the motor trade. All qualifications are delivered in conjunction with nationally recognised awarding bodies, and the GTA has been graded ‘Good’ by Ofsted for the quality of its apprenticeship provision.
