About
West Midlands Ambulance Service
West Midlands Ambulance Service University NHS Foundation Trust provides emergency and non‑emergency ambulance services across the West Midlands and is also an Ofsted-rated training provider. The Trust employs around 7,500 staff and serves a population of approximately six million people across 5,000 square miles, responding to around 4,000 emergency 999 calls a day and delivering approximately one million Patient Transport Service journeys each year. In addition to frontline clinical services, the organisation offers a range of employment and development opportunities, promoted through its “Work with us” section, which highlights diverse careers on the frontline and in corporate functions, all focused on helping patients and providing high standards of care. The Trust also delivers community-focused education such as free CPR and defibrillator training and bleed kit awareness sessions to help the public develop lifesaving skills. As a research-active organisation, West Midlands Ambulance Service contributes to clinical research in areas such as stroke, cardiac arrest, trauma and breathing difficulties, using findings to support improvements in patient care and service delivery. Employers and individuals engaging with the Trust can therefore access both high-quality ambulance services and structured opportunities for workforce development and skills training.
