Bishop Auckland College is a further and higher education college that forms part of the Bishop Auckland College Group, which also includes BAC Nursery, South West Durham Training, Durham Gateway and the McIntyre Centre. The College delivers a wide range of apprenticeship programmes from Level 2 to higher apprenticeships (Levels 4–7), alongside full-time and part-time courses for school leavers, adults and higher education learners. Apprenticeships span sectors such as construction, engineering, business, early years, hair and beauty, motor vehicle, property maintenance, catering and education support, with specialist engineering apprenticeships delivered at South West Durham Training in Newton Aycliffe. The College also offers Foundation Apprenticeships to help young people take their first step into work through combined classroom learning and work placements. For employers, Bishop Auckland College provides a free recruitment service for apprentices, including advertising vacancies, shortlisting and pre-interviewing candidates, and advising on funding, including levy use and co-funded training. More broadly, the College Group provides education and training from early years to higher education, with facilities such as the Kier Skills Academy and the McIntyre Centre supporting skills development for the local community and businesses.
