Reliance Precision

About
Reliance Precision
Reliance Precision is a family-owned specialist engineering company based in Huddersfield that runs a well-established four‑year engineering apprenticeship scheme alongside its wider precision manufacturing activities. The Reliance Precision Apprenticeship Scheme has operated for over sixty years and is designed for young people with a strong interest in engineering and a commitment to developing technical skills. Apprentices start in Reliance’s on-site EAL recognised training facility, accredited by the Institution of Mechanical Engineers (IMechE) and the Institution of Engineering and Technology (IET), where they learn manual turning and milling, safe manufacturing practices, technical drawing and CAD using software such as SolidWorks. As they progress, apprentices are trained to operate CNC machinery used to produce mission‑critical components to ultra‑precision tolerances and gain experience across different departments before specialising, for example in manufacturing/assembly, design or mechatronics engineering. The apprenticeship is a paid, full-time role with rising pay linked to skills development, weekly day-release to Kirklees College’s Engineering Centre for further training, and the opportunity to achieve recognised further education qualifications, with some progressing to higher education and Chartered Engineer status. Apprentices are employees from day one and can access company benefits such as healthcare and pension schemes.
Apprenticeships Offered:
Apprenticeship standards detail what an apprentice will be doing in their day-to-day job role.
Each standard lists the skills required of apprentices, and every standard is written by a group of employers called trailblazers-experts within their industry that have worked with countless apprentices.
Listed here are the apprenticeship standards this training provider offers training for.
