Type of training provider
There are four types of training provider:
A National Provider is a training provider that is able to offer apprenticeship training in any location across England. Some national providers might also offer training in the devolved nations, i.e. Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland.
An FE college is a state-funded provider that can offer a broad range of training options in a particular location to a range of employers.
A Specialist Provider is a training provider that is not state-funded and tends to offer training in specialist sectors or locations.
Universities offer training for Degree Apprenticeships or Higher Apprenticeships, sometimes running specialist courses for apprentices on a particular standard.
Mid Essex is an Initial Teacher Training scheme, working closely with a partnership of schools across the county. We have over 20 years of experience of teacher training and over 500 teachers have trained with us. All our training is run by experienced, practising teachers. We are based at Notley High School & Braintree Sixth Form and have links with over 20 secondary schools around Essex.
Mid Essex ITT offers school-based training, meaning that our apprentices spend four days a week within a local Essex secondary school. In addition, the apprentices will attend our central training every Thursday morning, followed by subject-specific training every Thursday afternoon. After successfully completing the apprenticeship, the apprentices will be awarded Qualified Teacher Status.
Mid Essex ITT was recognised as 'outstanding' in all categories by Ofsted in October 2017.
