Type of training provider
There are four types of training provider:
A National Provider is a training provider that is able to offer apprenticeship training in any location across England. Some national providers might also offer training in the devolved nations, i.e. Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland.
An FE college is a state-funded provider that can offer a broad range of training options in a particular location to a range of employers.
A Specialist Provider is a training provider that is not state-funded and tends to offer training in specialist sectors or locations.
Universities offer training for Degree Apprenticeships or Higher Apprenticeships, sometimes running specialist courses for apprentices on a particular standard.
McDonald's Restaurants Ltd operate and Franchise a chain of quick service restaurants. The McDonald's Apprenticeship programme is available to McDonald's Company and Franchised employees. The programme was launched in 2009 and over 18,522 apprentices have completed the programme with over 21,767 English and maths qualifications awarded. In 2010 the McDonald's Apprenticeship programme was reviewed for the first time by Ofsted, and was rated overall as "2" (Good).
The leadership and management of the Apprenticeship programme is led by the McDonald's Education Company (McEdCo Ltd) through the Education Team. Governance is provided through the McEdCo Board.
